Authorizers:   Individuals or groups seeking to establish a charter public school must apply to the local school board of the district in which the school will be located.

Act 88 of 2002 established the Department of Education as the authorizer for cyber charter schools. Cyber charter school are schools that provide a significant portion of instruction on-line.
