| Legislative Summary | Iowa's charter school law, Senate File 348, allows local school districts to be the chartering agent for a total of 10 pilot charter schools. The local district may apply to charter an existing attendance or to charter a new school within an existing attendance center. Each charter must be renewed after 4 years, and the statute sunsets in 8 years.
