Law:   Nevada charter school legislation can be found on the legislature's website (http://www.leg.state.nv.us), statutes NRS 386.500-386.610.

Amendment(s):   Amended in 2003.

Authorizers:   The State Board or the board of trustees of a school district.

Length of charter:   6 years

Caps on number of schools:   There is a cap on the number of "non at-risk" charter schools that may be formed: 21 throughout the state, with some geographic restrictions. Unlimited number for charter schools serving at-risk students.

Funding:   Charter schools receive the same per-pupil funding that local districts receive.
