




Twelve studies find that overall gains in charter schools are larger than other public schools; four find charter schools’ gains higher in certain significant categories of schools; six find comparable gains; and, four find that charter schools’ overall gains lagged behind traditional schools.

Nearly 3,500 public charter school teachers, principals, leaders and others turned out for the 9th Annual National Charter Schools Conference in Washington, June 21-24. The National Alliance for Public Charter Schools has made available an online recap of each day of the conference and provides videos and transcripts of many of the speeches including those by U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan, D.C. Schools Chancellor Michelle Rhee, and founding chairman of the National Alliance Howard Fuller.
