




Twelve studies find that overall gains in charter schools are larger than other public schools; four find charter schools’ gains higher in certain significant categories of schools; six find comparable gains; and, four find that charter schools’ overall gains lagged behind traditional schools.

This report compares charter school funding and district school funding in the Dayton, Ohio community. It finds that charter schools are under-funded compared to their district counterparts, even after accounting for differences in students and grade levels. The authors highlight that these findings should be taken seriously by those who argue that charter schools drain funds from district schools.
