Innovative Programs

What is the purpose of this program?
Innovative Programs is a state-administered formula grant program designed to improve the quality of education for all students.

How can these funds be used?
The program provides funding for instructional and educational materials; technology; school improvement; school and education reform; teacher quality, professional development, and class-size reduction; parental options; students with special needs; literacy, early childhood education, and adult education; community service and community involvement; health services; and the special education needs of at-risk and high-cost students.

What are the eligibility requirements?
Formula grants are available to SEAs. LEAs may apply to SEAs for subgrants.

What is the application or allocation process?
Contact your state department of education or local district to learn about the application process, timeliness, eligibility requirements, and when funds are disbursed.
