Abstract:  This document is one in a series of studies from the National Study of Charter Schools, a four-year national research effort to document and analyze the charter school movement. The impact study is based on research on 49 districts in 5 states--Arizona, California, Colorado, Massachusetts, and Michigan. The operational and educational changes in districts that administrators attribute to local charter schools are examined.
