I founded Sarasota Military Academy a four year charter military high school (Army JROTC). It has grown from 360 cadets/students to over 440 in two years, is fully accredited by the Southern Region in its second yeara of operation, is an Honor Army JROTC School with distinction, (never been achieved in the first year of operations before), and is, for the second year a five star DOE school State of Florida. Waiting list for next year. Waiting list for teachers is now over 250 applicants to teach at this very successful "model". The is the only such school, operational for four years of high school inexisttence in US at this time. More to come.
I created Charter Military Schools Development Corporation to replicate this as a model all over United States. Have about a dozen communities interested in doing so, and five or six in the formation activities. Training of founding boards and initial organizers part of the routine.
Wanted to make a statement, that I believe that the ability to replicate an existing and successful model, is imperative to may types of schools that have a demand in most communities and which by their very definition have a program of studies in place, a purpose, a mission, and a proven leadership role to take in community that is proven and workable in most communities. Local adaptation and adjustments required of course.
Thought I'd thrown thisin, as the thread and thoughts about not re-making the wheel as there is so much else to accomplish with a new school that must be created "anew".
Thanks.
