Aaron, good questions. One way to address this is to create new roles for teachers. In the educational environment that we envision, the traditional role of a teacher has been split into two different positions: a Content Area Specialist (CAS) and an Academic Management Specialist. Both of these positions require a unique set of skills and abilities. The former, the CAS, is an appropriate position for a non-educator who has the skills, knowledge, and passion in a specialized area. Their sole responsibility is to share that knowledge with students. The sole responsibility of the AMS is to assist the student in managing their academic progress as they glean new skills and knowledge from a CAS. Will this work in a traditional classroom? No, the role of the student has to change as well for this model to be effective.
