I have enjoyed reading all the posts about teachers and decision-making. However, call me old-fashioned, but I try to keep everything simple as not to confuse anyone. I believe teachers should concentrate on teaching in order to master their skills and grow effectively in experience and wisdom. My job as an administrator is to make sure they have whatever is needed to accomplish this task. I don't want them making copies, worried about disruptive students, working long hours without compensation, or unnecessarily frustrated in anyway. I want a teacher who concentrates on teaching, considerate of his/her students and the goals of the school. And I will make sure they are in an environment that makes this possible.
Is this approach unrealistic or too simplistic?
