In addition to looking for teachers who are willing to participate more in governance and leadership activities, successful charter schools are seeking educators who are aggressive about crafting meaningful parent participation into their instructional practice. Charter school recruitment teams need to find ways to determine a candidate's understanding of and skill level in regard to operating in an environment that fosters a very different type of parent involvement than is usually seen in tradition public schools. Teachers who do not operate from a principle that values the role of the parent in the operation of the school threaten the school's ability to deliver on one of the basic promises of charter schools. Teachers who do not fully understand or embrace your mission and vision likewise threaten the integrity of the organization.
