Where to find useful information 6/10/04 9:15 AM
Author: Doug Carnine Active Panelist  View Thread

Until recenlty teachers and principals have had a difficlut time finding
resources that provide information that is truly reserach based--everything
is now claimed to be research based! The What Works Clearing House is doing
a careful review of research in middle school math and peer assisted
learning. The ERIC system is being revised to be more explicit about what
are "ideas" and what is based on research. But we also have to find ways to
learn from schools that are succeeding, charter schools and non charter
schools. Organizations such as the National Center for Education
Accountablity are working to meet this need. As these resources come on
line, there needs to be a systematic way for all charter schools to gain
access to this information--and to know when it is available.
