Having started three charter schools, I am convinced that high quality teachers are attracted to and want to stay in a charter school that has a clear and compelling educational vision; where it is obvious that all efforts in the school are focused on accomplishing that vision. This means that the educational leader at the school must be clear on how the school is accomplishing that vision through teaching in the classroom, but must also respect and encourage the teachers to use their own ideas and talents to continually improve how the school approaches that vision.
