Given that both teachers below are good people with excellent references, which would you hire?
A) an intelligent teacher with a master's degree in science who expects students to know all the names of scientists, dates of discoveries and scientific formulas and to perform experiments gain knowledge;
B) an intelligent science teacher who doesn't necessarily care about the names of scientists, dates of discoveries or scientific formulas, but who has an infectious thirst for knowledge;
No cheating, I know the answer should be both. Few applicants for a job will have both. If you find one, don't hesitate to hire the applicant.
Your answer says something about how you view a teacher's role in the classroom. When is a thirst for knowledge more important than the subject matter in a student's life?
