It may be that the best discussion was saved for last. This topic has prompted excellent posts.
As an effective teacher seeking a position in a charter school, I would look for "yes" answers to the following questions:
1. Does this school have a clearly palpable "culture of caring?"
2. Are expectations clearly communicated?
3. Is the hiring style of the administration, "choose only the best people, trust them, and back them to the limit?"
4. Will I be held accountable for outcomes, rather than methodology?
5. Is there adequate staff to handle non-instructional duties so that I can focus on teaching?
6. Does outstanding performance result in greater responsibility and higher compensation?
