Collaboration between districts and charter schools 6/9/04 12:52 PM
Author: Tracy Quarnstrom View Thread

The charter school where I work has a very close relationship with our neighboring school district (who happens to be our sponsoring agent). We have created a relationship where it is give and take with the ultimate goal of doing the best for students.

For example we were given an opportunity to have our students attend the district prom if our staff would act as chaperones for the event. In addition our students are able to have opportunities to participate in extra curricular activities. The key to our success has been a positive relationship with the Superintendent of our local school district who sees our charter school as necessary to accommodate all students in his district.
