Cindy - good point. Competition exists in just about every other aspect of a capitalistic society. Why should public education be any different? If public schools did have to compete for families and students (as private schools do)wouldn't the schools take a closer look at what they are doing and how they are doing it? I would welcome the opportunity, as a new charter school developer, to compete for families. What I believe I would get in return are families that find value in the educational program we have to offer, are committed to the mission of the school, and will be supportive. Competition will require families (and schools) to take a closer look at what is being offered.
