Patty, good example. I think policy makers and educators have the best intentions when determining and measuring success in schools. However, I think it is arrogant of us to believe that we can manufacture, whoops, produce students who have mastered all that we expect of them by the time he or she graduates from high school. If we truly believe in developing life long learners than our educational programs need to focus on developing students with a limited number of skills and provide experiences for them that encourage the development of a passion for learning that will take them beyond the walls of a traditional school.
