resource centers as accelerators of scale w/quality 6/9/04 9:03 AM
Author: Gerry Vazquez Inactive Panelist  View Thread

Unlike universities and their education departments, resource centers are free to promote and support the development of an undiluted charter school sector. And resource centers are not constrained by the politics that typify membership organizations. Resource centers are best situated to help maximize the impact of charters in a given state or locality.

In response to New York's ed reform situation, the New York Charter School Resource Center is adding value by doing the following:

- focusing exclusively on new school development
- concentrating new school development in key jurisdictions for maximum impact
- contributing resources (intellectual and financial) only to quality school developers
- partnering and leveraging the resources of groups that care deeply about scale with quality

Serving as strategic investors and accelerators for gaining scale w/quality are powerful and vital roles uniquely suited to resource centers.

We are available to share our approach and successes with interested groups.
