We are a public charter school in Arizona and are not affiliated with any district. Through a USDOE dissemination grant, our charter school has able to assist two district schools and four other charters in improving their reading program and training teachers. These district schools had a need and we volunteered to help them.
In another case, we were the ones in need. We were looking for an alternative to our school lunch program, and we discussed our needs with our local district. The district contracted with the Marriott Corporation to learn how to outsource meals and create a revenue center. We have been purchasing food services from the district for over three years.
We run printing jobs through a district print shop. This generates revenue for the district and allows us access to low-cost printing.
These are some examples of how we have been able to work with district schools for our mutual benefit.
