There's nothing in NCLB that should stop creative charters and authorizers from coming up with new accountability systems. For the time being they may have to be layered on existing state systems -- in other words, you still have to administer that danged reading test once a year, but in the meantime you get lots of good info for internal accountability purposes through online tests and whatnot. The catch is that NCLB requires a single accountability system in each state....Of course, a single "system" can have many "components." Keep your fingers crossed.
