I think that Lynn raises an excellent point. How long should districts take in converting a low-performing school to a charter school? Closing a school in June and re-opening it in September sounds like a recipe for disaster. It seems particularly important to allow whoever is going to run the school the time to adequately plan their program and to sufficiently engage parents and community members. What about closing it in June of one year and re-opening it in September of the next year?
