I agree wholeheartedly on this aspect. While many of us claim to be too busy running our schools, it is up to us to develop data (both anecdotical and statistical) that show the good charter schools are doing. For example, in addition to the standardized testing, some of us are advocating schools to develop statistics to show the growth a student achieves once they enter that particular charter school. If a child enters a charter school in the 3rd grade and takes our standardized PSSA test and fails, the strike is against the charter school. We say take that data and use it to further that child's educational plan. But also show data that documents the child's growth as he or she continues in that charter school. Use that data to buttress the argument of the good you are doing.
But, that's only half the battle. We need to get that information out to the general public and clearly illustrate the good charter schools are doing! If we don't we will still lose the battle to grow charter schools.
