From my perspective, it is critical to the credibility of the charter school movement for charter schools to meet the same accountability requirements as traditional public schools. I am wondering, however, if we have learned any lessons from charter school accountability that may be applied at a large scale to all public schools, particularly around value-added accountability. Have we learned enough to know how to expand AYP so that it encompasses absolute and growth targets?
