It seems to me that we should prepare for the hundreds (thousands?) of schools that will be eligible for conversion into charter status over the next several years, thanks to NCLB. We probably all agree that increasing the quantity of charters is crucial to the long-term sustainability of the movement, and this is the opportunity to do just that.
Just imagine if a progressive state or school district REQUIRED all of its chronically "in need of improvement" schools to become charters instead of just "restructuring" them.
Would we, as national leaders, be prepared?
