Good morning, I am concerned about a negative backlash from NCLB on the charter school movement. Some of our schools work with populations that are very much at risk and we count achievement by attendance, cooperation, and self-esteem. Of course, we work to raise all learners to competent levels of academic performance but standardized tools are not, in my opinion, what our movement needs for vindication. Unless Federal policy reflects that different schools and structures to educate require different tools to evaluate we may find ourselves suffering under their policies.
