Look to Ohio - they have created a very interesting model for multiple authorizers. While Arizona started out with three authorizing possibilities, the stand alone State Board for Charter Schools is now for all intents and purposes the sole authorizer - not healthy for the choice movement. A bill to allow for additional authorizers was shot down this legislative session, but we do have written assurances that a multiple authorizers bill will once again be introduced next year. We will be looking at public and private universities and colleges, community colleges, county school superintendents and possibly other non-profits.
