It would be nice to be able to create a lobby as well heeled as the NEA, and then legislators would beat a path to our door. But that will not happen, so we have to win on merit. That merit will come through sound management, fiscally and otherwise, but it will be eventually based on excellent schools that teach their students well. Parents whose children are learning successfully will influence legislators, if not directly, then ultimately. We have to hope for this, because as we get stronger, the NEA will put more of their resources against us. Teach well.
