Charter schools in New York State have five years to implement a successful charter. I agree with a time limit because we are working with the future of children and extended periods of a charter to "get it right" is not acceptable. However, stating 9% of charter schools have closed is misleading. What is this percentage compared too? To make this number valid, obtain the data of public schools within the same time frame that fall below state standards, and compare the percentage. I am sure the amount would be far greater than 9%.
