Job Description: Responsible for teaching and educating students according to education goals of each individual student and in the areas of student assessment and classroom management;
Selects educational goals and materials designed to meet the age specific educational needs of the clients; Provides assignments and group projects that have therapeutic value and motivates the clients; Provides social skills training to individuals and groups;
Implements and enforces effective behavior management techniques in a humanistic manner; Follows the Medical Director's orders, conducts educational testing and/or assessment on the clients’ academic strengths, weaknesses and special needs;
Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to collect and review information regarding the client's status in order to identify age specific needs; Provide interventions that are appropriate to the age and to the clients' population served; Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development as it applies to each client; Provide necessary educational services as described in the program’s policies and procedures, adjusts program to meet individual client's needs; Maintain communication with other disciplinary team members throughout each client's stay support clients and co-workers; Communicate information about the clients and education program to the Program Director; Provide for safety within all aspects of the education program according to program policies and procedures; Participates regularly in performance and quality assessment and improvement activities; Demonstrates problem solving skills and the ability to work cooperatively with other staff members.
Qualifications: Master’s degree preferred; Bachelors’ degree in or related field; Certification/Endorsement in math, science or social studies; Indiana Teaching License required; Previous educational experience preferred with at-risk adolescents;
Knowledge or experience of Alternative classrooms; Knowledge of DSM-IV diagnosis, system and terminology; Knowledge of current trends in education and mental health; Must be 21 years of age or older
