Organization: Georgia Charter Schools Association
Job Description: GCSA is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Development to develop and direct an aggressive fundraising strategy. This includes: Planning, implementing, and directing a comprehensive development program that generates individual donors, foundation, philanthropic and corporate support to undergird the development of quality Charter Schools throughout Georgia.
Responsibilities:
Directs a fund development program that includes the annual fund plan, foundation and corporate gifts, and special events
Oversees and implements strategies that will grow annual revenue, writes proposals and secures funding from corporate and foundation donors
Leads strategies and research to identify, prioritize, cultivate, solicit, recognize and steward all donors and prospects
Seeks new sources of grant revenue for the support of the Associations ongoing operation and for the increasing the size and quality of the Charter School community in Georgia
In coordination with other staff and board members, builds and sustains relationships with current, new and potential grant-giving organizations and individuals
Maintains an accurate and active development calendar
Manages individual donor campaigns, including membership renewals and special appeals
Works to secure responsible business partners as sponsors
In coordination with other staff and board members, manages a portfolio of donors and prospects
Implements and manages new organizational donor database creates profiles and tracks donors and prospects; and, in coordination with staff, issues announcements as necessary
Collaborates with staff and consultants to ensure that publications and website include donor-focused content
Assists CEO in working with board to enhance development efforts
Qualifications: Demonstrated success in securing major and annual gifts from foundations and corporations
Demonstrated success in meeting annual fund goals, development management, grantwriting, sponsorships and special events
Demonstrated success in working as a member of a team and developing effective working relationships with staff, volunteers and donors
Experience in researching donor prospects, developing donor relationships, and closing donor gifts
Demonstrated success in securing major and annual gifts from foundations and corporations
Demonstrated success in meeting annual fund goals, development management, grantwriting, sponsorships and special events
Demonstrated success in working as a member of a team and developing effective working relationships with staff, volunteers and donors
Direct experience with education reform policy or charter schools a plus
Self-motivated with the ability to thrive under pressure and meet multiple deadlines
Understanding and sensitivity to working with diverse constituencies
Team-player capable of working independently and with minimal oversight
Excellent time management and prioritization skills
Superior writing skills
Outstanding oral communication and interpersonal skills
Experience with donor community and fundraising in the Atlanta metro and Georgia area highly preferred
Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience required; advanced degree preferred.
Additional Information and Requirements:
Supervisory responsibilities: n/a (sole staff member in this area)
Normal work hours: 8:30 a.m. 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday with some evening and weekend times required.
Must be able to travel (sometimes overnight) within the state by car and to occasional national conferences and meetings.
